Who
The General Services Administration (GSA) is a U.S. government agency with the purpose of helping to manage and support basic functions of federal agencies.
The GSA’s Automated Advanced Acquisition Program is designed to connect commercial real estate holders who would like to lease space to federal agencies with federal managers responsible for finding space to lease.
The online webform process was extremely cumbersome and non-intuitive, requiring a ton of dense forms and detailed information – without the ability to save or manage input.
Building a Better Salesforce Portal User Experience
We set out to redesign and optimize the portal user experience, while migrating to a new Salesforce platform.
We inventoried and analyzed the existing forms to design a better experience that wouldn't overwhelm users with excessive forms. The team then developed a series of wireframes that elegantly streamlines managing the large numbers of required data fields.
We delivered GSA a clickable prototype – enabling GSA stakeholders and developers to further refine the user experience.
Perhaps most importantly, we created a way for users with a unique set of credentials to easily start and stop, saving their progress.
The Results
The portal was designed to match the look and feel of common commercial real estate platforms.
The polished interface has reinforced GSA's image as a technologically savvy organization by providing both stakeholder sets with superior usability.
In addition to the positive feedback from the commercial real estate community, the number of system users increased, while form failure rate decreased.
